Don’t know if you heard but the Coasties (U.S. Coast Guard) recently upped the “average weight” of a human in a boat from 160 pounds to 185 pounds, effective Dec. 1 of this year.
That’s the first change since the ’60s, long overdue…but might be generously low for, ahem, some bassers.
Still, it will lower the number of buds you can have in your boat (don’t see how this can be retroactive so I assume new boats only), effectively making it “smaller” – not that you’re putting 4 folks in your boat real often.
In the example below, the limit would change to three folks instead of four.
