Last time I checked, more people fish for bass – way more – than any other fish. So I was kinda scratching my head about Field & Stream’s “12 New Gear Items Sure to Please Anglers this Holiday Season.”
The list doesn’t include a single item specifically geared to bass-heads. The two closest are generics: the Berkley aluminum pliers and a magnetic lure holder (I’m not counting the cheap rain coat).
Seven of the 12 are specific to fly fishermen, including a reel painted with a rainbow trout pattern (apparently all the rage over there these days) and “The Complete Illustrated Directory of Salmon & Steelhead Flies” – which if I was forced to read I might start babbling like these guys:
F&S isn’t exactly known as bass fishing central, though it has tried to jump on the bandwagon here and there. Still, WTH F&S?
What do you want that’s super cool for bass-heads? I’m sending my wife…er, Santa…here, to bassgifts.com, and asking for this flyswatter or this TP holder.

Trout anglers are elitest and jealous that bass angling is more popular, so it’s understandable. Besides, who needs F&S when you have BassMaster and FLW Outdooes Bass Edition?

I think I have a few new name suggestion for F&S… Flies & Spoons, or Flies & Spinners, or one that covers both options, Flies & Sh*t (plus it has double meanings). (Hopefully that’s not over the line with the posting rules, because it’s really just funny for funny’s sake.)
