Check Out This Huge Redear!

(BassTackleMaster.com photo)

This enormous redear sunfish was recently caught in Lake Havasu and, not surprisingly, could be a new world record.

Here are the specs (from this post):
> 5.55 pounds
> 16.75 inches long
> 19-inch girth

Wow! The current IGFA redear record is 5 pounds, 7 ounces, caught by Amos Gray in a “diversion canal” in South Carolina in 1998.

The existing Arizona state record redear was caught Feb. 16, 2010 at Havasu and weighed 4 pounds 2.24 ounces and was 15.5 inches long.

Redears feed on mussels, but this one – caught by Robert Lawler of Lake Havasu City on May 2 – was fooled by a bassin’ bait: a Texas-rigged 7-inch Berkley Power Worm.
