Today’s Top 3

Yo bassheads, have a great Good Friday and Easter, see you Monday.

1. Another ShareLunker outta TX.

This one weighed 13.29 (26.75″ long, 20″ around), caught by Colin Pack in a Texas Tournament Zone derby, Lake Austin. Caught in 10′ in hydrilla with a Carolina rig. Old school!

2. New Beaver colors.

Didja see these yet? T2B: black light, donkey punch, pay back, tramp stamp. (Awesome pics from landbigfish.com.)

Bottom one is Reaction Innovations’ original green pumpkin, now renamed…wait for it…honey doo doo. Hahahahahaha!

3. Bass guys seem to like driving their boats as much as fishing, which is understandable when you have a metallic-flaked water-borne muscle car.

Fly-fisherman (*eyeroll*). Dang straight!

News

1. 47 more Clear Lake patterns in BassGold.

Put together a pattern report for the upcoming B.A.S.S. College Series and Nation events there, but first entered 47 patterns for March-April there, mostly EverStarts and WON. Getting close to 5K patterns in BassGold, powerful stuff!

2. Ott Defoe endorses Aqua-Vu.

> Ott: “Sonar shows me the big picture of underwater terrain, and scans all around my boat. But when I need to identify fish species or to examine cover, close-up, the Aqua-Vu camera is a great tool – it gives me a fish eye view of what’s really happening underwater, all in colorful live video.”

Pics or it didn’t happen!

3. Fish the RMB!

April 7. A Dodge Ram truck and checks given out every hour, plus checks every hour down to 15th, plus fishing on Lake Fork!

Tip of the Day

Cool crankbait color tip.

> Today when we were fishing crankbaits we had several instances when I hung big fish and they came unbuttoned. A lot of times when that happens it doesn’t mean you should totally change baits. You should try changing colors on the same bait before you totally change lures or fishing styles.

> I was throwing a black pearl color Fat Free Shad BD7. They hit it, I pulled my rod back and they’re on for about 5 seconds and gone. Maybe they hit it closed-mouthed, I’m not sure.

> Instead of totally changing baits, I threw four other colors before I found what they were hitting: the foxy shad Fat Free Shad. After that, I started catching keeper fish that were eating the bait – and we were fishing the same spot as when I hung those bass that came unbuttoned.

Quote of the Day

You could go up to some docks and have 30 fish over 5 pounds come up to it.

– Quote from April 2007 coverage of an EverStart on CA’s Clear Lake. “It” was a 9″ Osprey swimbait. Sounds friggin’ incredible.

Cabela’s Collegiate Big Bass Bash angler Andrew Nutt showing off some of what amounted to almost 2 grand in bonuses for his recent Table Rock win. Wow!
