Sorry a later one today, had a hiccup. Couple shout-outs:
The Revital Outdoors CBD products continue to help me – same some pro and regular fishermen. So now I'm a-tryin' to help them. Please give 'em a big bass-head welcome to the ol' Blaster fam. Pretty crazy how well their stuff works for me (YMMV), still almost can't believe it. It's almost like MaxScent...😁
Also forgot to mention about my trip to Candlewood Lake: Terry Baksay LOVES those Pitbull Tackle braid, etc cutters man. Maybe can't have just 1 pair because I have just 1 and I'm kinda paranoid about losin' 'em....

"I spend a lot of time fishing in my pool at home."
|
|
Actually it IS cray but that's the way all these guys are....
One more tiddybit from the show is that Hack likes to jig-fish in the morning, when it's dark:
> ...the best jig bite of the day [when you're normally thinking topwater]. I always start with darker jig [sometimes full black I think he said]....
|
|
Hole up – I was thinkin' of someone else...😂 Just messin' B-Hite! Anyhow here's the full quote:
> "The right dialed-in blade shapes, bends and angles.... Building a ChatterBait that hums – that thumps and performs with the first half-turn of the reel handle is all about calculated geometry. It’s about oscillation and water displacement and achieving precise angles between line, blade and jighead.
> "But the same math doesn’t apply in every fishing situation or body of water. Sometimes a different vibration and pitch, a subtler flash, or a tighter action and smaller footprint can produce twice as many bites. Given a need for an even more refined bladed jig, we ultimately developed JackHammer 2.0, a.k.a. the StealthBlade."

Do you do this? If you live or fish in FL, the answer's yes. If not, then probably not. Bobby Lane showed me how to do this in FL (not much to it), it's easy and it works. I was going to try it on the veggies at my local lake this weekend, but the veg was gone so.... But I WILL try it somewhere else up here.
Hook of your choice based on your hookset, line, rod and fish size – in other words, normal considerations. Throw it out there and reel it back so it's bumping the veg, rising, falling, whatever. When I did it, it didn't seem to matter what depth it ran at within the first few feet. But I'm sure there's folks who are WAY more dialed in to various conditions than I'll ever be (like maybe you!).
> "One time I was rigging it with a 3/16-oz weight, and I was reeling it on top as fast as I possibly could, and if I saw a wake coming I would just kill it. Sometimes I’ll just use a little pinch-on piece of lead in front of it. Now I’m to the point where I’m lazy, and I just don’t tie any weight on it."
> ...usually runs a 4/0 Gamakatsu Offset Round Bend for his hook [back then]. ...uses 15-lb mono or fluoro, or 40- to 50-lb braid...in various circumstances. "I use braid in the really heavy vegetation, and fluoro and mono in more open-water scenarios. I use the mono if I’m going to be reeling it on top, and I use the fluorocarbon if I’m going to be slow-reeling it under the water.
> "You can straight burn it. You can pull it and pause it, and you crank it right under the water like you would a swim-jig. And it works like a TX rig on the bottom too."
|
|
> "For years I’d thrown a swimming worm on a traditional round-bend, but this one...the gap is wider than a round bend but not as wide as an EWG, which can make a bait roll and spin.”
> "You want a high reel speed because a lot of times they’ll eat it coming at you and you want to be able to pick up line quickly."

South Africa now providin' "stress free" bassin' competition??
|
|
> Fishermen who fish from float tubes, kick-boats, pontoon boats, kayaks, inflatables and small bass boats, not exceeding 4.2 m [13.8'], can now socially compete in a stress-free environment, thanks to the recent local introduction of the fastest growing bass-fishing league in South Africa, the Small Craft Bass League Lowveld.
Is it possible to compete "stress free"?
Is it worth competing with no stress involved?
Is it really still competition then??
Are there no community holes in those tourneys???
🤣
Anyhow, here's proof it's impossible to do pretty much anything stress-free in South Africa:
|
|
😳 No campin' at those deals! And good luck with the dang float tubes!!

UK is cracking down on angler "anti-social behavior."
|
|
> As law-abiding anglers know, illegal fishing and anti-social behavior on our banks is not only harmful to fish populations, but can also have a detrimental effect on the environment and surrounding wildlife.
Okay:
1. Not sure about UK anglers, but US anglers (maybe even Canadian ones) have always been and NEED to be mostly anti-social. It's a big part of the whole deal! 😂 For real!
2. Anti-social behavior harms fish populations, the environment and wildlife??
Whole deal freaked ol' Krusty out:

...owning a bass spin-rod! 👊 That and other alleged "facts" of fishing brought to you by Dave Mercer, who pronounces "Toronto" without the first O...so "Tronto." Figurin' he knows how to say it right so I had it wrong....
2021 Suzuki 250SS 160 hrs, 5 Helix 10s, Mega 360, Mega Live, Ultrex, Raptors. No word if it comes with his signature hairspray...😁
Here's a hint:

No that's NOT Randy Hopper and Roland Martin! 🤣 Just messin' fellas!
If so, check the new Lunkerhunt combos. Vid ^ is for the new spin combos which I saw at ICAST – were pretty nice for the $!
MH and H can be so different can't they. And maybe not right, so Trey and all the peeps he holds hostage in his workshop (😂) came up with the Kistler Heavy Medium-Heavy 4.5 Power Rod:
> The perfect blend: stronger than a MH yet not as stiff as a H, and with fast action. Now available in the Helium series.
Seems like not til 2023 and it's cuz:
> The county’s existing boat launch at Dutch Gap...gets about 200,000 visitors annually. It won’t be publicly accessible though, once Dominion begins excavating tons of coal ash from 2 massive storage ponds and ferrying it to a lined landfill.... That process, required by 2019 General Assembly legislation, is expected to take 15 years or more.
9. Asian carp updatin's.
> Carp eggs drift for miles, and, as they drift, the fish develop. If researchers can figure out where they land, and if those locations are suitable for the growth of young carp, then they can target sites and intercept the eggs.
Headlines of the Day
Gonna respectfully disagree because of such like:
> ...with messages like “Large Mouth. Big Burger,” or a picture of a fish jumping at a hook baited with french fries.
Stone Cold was like:

> According to the Greene County [TN] Sheriff's Department, authorities received a call of a man floating nude in the Nolichucky River on a group of logs near River Plantation neighborhood around 11:45 am Wed.
> Crews tried to rescue him at Jones Bridge, however, the man refused to be rescued and kept going down the river.
Actually woulda been shocked if the dude WASN'T from TN. 🤣 🤣 TN folks!
Every day seems like there's a new kinda crazy....

Spent some time in the boat with Matt in FL in July. He's a nut for worm-swimmin' so I got him to do a vid on it, wherein he remained lucid even tho it was like 1 million degrees at the time! Props to him, here's 'tis:
|
|
Stuff he mentions ^:
5/16-oz tungsten weight made shiny
Bobber stop
|
|
"I got in an area that had some bass in it and just caught a lot of them."
- 😂 That's Adrian Avena (NJ homie!) talkin' 'bout leadin' one group at the MLF Pro Circuit Champeenship on the upper Mississippi River at La Crosse. If you can't learn from that deal I can't help you man...😆
|
|
Check what Mike McClelland said, who was leading the other group:
> "I found the fish that would normally bite a swim-jig were pushing it...so I feel like I’ve got a little trick up my sleeve. I’ve got a little bit of topwater activity, some [SPRO] RKCrawler activity and am throwing a little brown jig like we do in the Ozarks."
Thank you Mike!

In Europe. Says Wally is a juvenile and already weighs around 1,800 lbs:

Of course the authorities 'n experts are more worried about the critter than the fact he's wrecking peeps' boats. 🙄
