Extreme Bassin’ Boat Drivin’: Vids

Have I talked here about the “back in the day” stories of bass boatin’ on the pro trail – meaning the Bassmaster Top 100s, etc. because that’s all there was back then.

This was before cameras in boats all day, the interwebz, cell phones and nanny states/armchair tourney directors, so these guys would jump banks, laydowns, all kinds of crazy stuff to get where they needed to go.

Anyhow, was reminded of that when I ran across the following “extreme bass boatin'” vids the other day. Enjoy – anyone else do any crazy drivin’?

Burnin’ Everglades canals

This is nuts! The tune is worth it alone – hilarious – is it real?

I’ve been a couple places on the Ca. Delta that are just like the Everglades Extreme Bass Boat. Some parts getting in are too shallow to run off pad.

I have run lanes like this before on Okeechobee, but its no fun when you make a wrong turn and have to turn around a 20ft bass boat in 7ft wide canal lined with reeds, and a depth of 1 ft. It takes several hours…

Getting into a severely silted in creek can be an adventure. As we were plowing(literally) through the last turn to get into the creek, Jeff got a little outside of the former channel and hit a stump. Disclaimer: nothing was harmed in this video. The boat and motor had no issues for the next couple of years that Jeff owned the boat. Don’t be hatin’, enjoy!

That second video must have been shot from a bass boat with a jet drive on it. Either that or someone glued a bass boat deck on an Argo…

Great stuff, but I’ll match the Everglades ride with Seminole under flood, fog and millions of Coots in the boat lanes. Flying down the lanes full of trees, logs, gators, in in Mr . OSD’s Gambler (OSD = Official Stump Detector) .

That’s actually me in my boat in the Florida everglades. True you can not come off plane in most of those type trails or you are in for a bad day.
But at times it can be very rewarding if you can get to those fish!
