I’ve heard of the one-bait tourneys which are cool, but never saw this one before: a mystery bait tourney. In other words, you show up at the dock with everything but baits, you’re handed a bait or, in the case below, a sack of a few baits and off you go.
If you knew the fish would hit cranks and you guy a sack of soft-plastics just like everybody else, tough beans.
More on an inshore version from the land o’ yakkers:
> 62 anglers woke up bright and early on Nov. 19, in eager anticipation of tournament number two in the Paddle-Fishing.com Tournament Series. “The Mystery Lure†has all anglers using the same exact lure or, in this case, lures.
> Each angler recieved a lure bag loaded with an assortment of lures: 3-inch Mullet in Rootbeer / Gold Flake;Â 5-inch Flats Chub in Firefly; 3.5-inch Shirmp in Gold n Glow; 4.5-inch Inshore Minnow in Bunker; 2-inch Blue Crab; 3.5-inch Top Water Shad; and an assortment of jigs. The tackle pack is pictured below.
Any of you do this with clubs or buds?

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see the tackle pack below…

Sounds fun. I wonder if the MLF boys could try it, that would be fun to watch.
