My hat’s completely off and somewhere down the lake to the folks who can catch fish on Pickwick. To me it’s the Dead Sea.
Been very fortunate to have fished most of the well-known bass holes in this wonderful country of ours, including Pickwick, and let me tell you that that is one lake I’d never want to go back to (no offense to the locals).
Nice fish in there when you see one caught – and when that happens there’s a parade with a brass band – but I think they live in a separate lake, just under Pickwick. Once in a while they come out for some sunshine or something.
Because of that, I have no freakin’ clue who to pick for the BP Fantasy league – other than a bunch of guys in Group A (lol). So here’s what I got: Steve Kennedy, Mark Davis, Kevin Short, Pat Golden, Ott Defoe. Call me nuts, I just think the crank boys might get onto something.
Maybe it’s whole squarebill thing getting me thinking….

Pickwick is on fire. Maybe you fished it before the grass? Now it’s like a young Guntersville with big brownies mixed in. It’s gona take some big sacks to win. I’m thinkin’ 87 to 90 lbs of prespawn pigs.

BTW, that’s my son in the pic holding a 6 lb. 7 oz. smallie from the waters we speak of. It was one of three over six that afternoon. I think you might want to try your luck at this hole one more time.

Jesse, KVD is a gimme for just about any event — I try to pick some different guys. I can’t win anything anyway…(sniff)

Oh Jay….we all have our lakes don’t we! This will be a flipper’s tourney to win. They can’t lock through to Wilson for the first two days. I am taking Group A: Aaron Martens, Group B: Derek Remitz, Group C Rick Morris, Group D: Chris Lane, Group E: Ott Defoe. I am looking at who is hot, who did good last year, and who likes to flip. The water is high and there is some current. To get some points you have to stray from the crowd a little. KVD is who everyone has for group A. I didn’t have KVD on my list either.
