Best/Worst Things About the BF HOF

I was reading on BassFan the announcement about the 2011 inductees into the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame (BFHOF), and had a few thoughts. But first: If you don’t know, Guy Eaker, Ken Cook and Dave Precht are the 2011 class. Awesome. Some quick impressions of these guys:

> Guy Eaker – Super funny. I think we had him on Loudmouth Bass (remember that show?). Dry sense of humor, up for anything.

> Ken Cook – Super nice guy, as many bass pros are. Ken is a classic “older-school” pro (sorry Ken!): nice, soft-spoken, but out for blood on the water (like Denny, Larry, Rick, etc.).

> Dave Precht – One of the two best editors I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, the other being Matt Vincent who used to handle B.A.S.S. (not Bassin’) Times. I’ve told both of them that before, so I’m not expecting any teary phone calls…. Dave bleeds blue and yellow.

So what’s the best thing about the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame? Everyone who’s gotten in  deserves it, and there’s a long list of people who deserve to get in and will, and whom we all “know” – in a different way than we know, for example, Terry Bradshaw or Carl Yastrzemski (Yaz!).

The worst thing is that the BF HOF is still only a website! (Then again, so is the WWE HOF….) It needs a physical home. I vote for Ray Scott’s place, or wherever the new BASS HQ is, or if Bass Pro Shops or Cabela’s want to build a home for it at one of their retail outlets. Or somewhere else that makes sense. Just get it done!
