2. GA still not offering bass license plate (tag).

Guess they’re like: so what if we’re the home of thousands of bass fishermen and…oh yeah…the world record largie!

> Not only does Georgia still hold the world record for the species, the largemouth also is the state fish. If you’re a bass fisherman, don’t you think you’d be willing to buy a special license plate if it depicts a leaping largemouth bass?

> I know I would, but the powers that be at the DNR are reluctant to agree. They say the Non Game Division needs the money. So what’s to prevent the bass tag money from going to Non Game?

> Georgia does have a special trout tag, but its design is not attractive and I am not going to buy one. Presently, our family vehicles sport two eagles and the deer/quail tag. I’d love to have a bass plate for each of our boat trailers.

3. Pro All-Star enticements on Facebook.

The Bassmaster All-Star event is coming up in September, and fan votes count. Did you vote yet? If not, here’s the link (you get 4 votes per day), and you can find all sorts of enticements about who to vote for on Facebook. Few examples:

Tip of the Day

Cliff Crochet’s summer buzzin’ tips.

Lot of good tips in that post Highlights below but worth a full read:

> During the hot summer months when Cliff Crochet fishes buzzbaits, his favorite color is black and the only retrieve speeds he uses are fast and faster.

> Crochet nearly always fishes 1/2-oz baits because they tend to attract heavier bass [and can be cast farther].

> On Crochet’s initial cast and retrieve to visible targets, he does not try to actually hit the cover with his lure. Instead, he reels the buzzbait a foot or two away from the target, in hopes he might get an “easy” fish to bite. If it’s a big bass, it will be easier to play since it’s already away from the cover.

> “If I don’t get a strike on that first cast, I’ll run the buzzbait straight into the target, the very same way we run crankbaits into the cover.”
