Today’s Top 3

Quotes today:

1. I never really thought about the ugly factor. I’m trying to stick a hook in their mouth, not get them in the bed.

– Guy on the excellent Texas Fishing Forum talking about wild-colored rods and rod-guide wraps.

2. If I had the money I would buy six of them. Make it kinda like an Ozzy Osbourne concert for the fish.

– Another guy on the TFF, talking about the HydroWave.

3. When it’s the last day and they make the cut to 50 guys and you have 100 guys standing out there, how can you make a ruling that quick without looking at all the facts? He had to make it with the only means and in the only timeframe he had.

– Zell Rowland talking on Bassin’Fan about his day 3 DQ at Oneida. Would you want the TD’s job? Heck no!

Tip of the Day

Frank Scalish’s beatin’ the heat tips.

> Scalish said hot fishing weather demands drinking water, and lots more than the average angler might have in the cooler.

> “To stay hydrated, you need to start drinking water long before you’re thirsty and drink a ton throughout the day,” he said. “Avoid pop or coffee, which cause dehydration. It takes about four cups of water to replace dehydration from one cup of coffee.”

> Scalish always wears a hat to stay a little cooler and prevent sunburn and favors light, long-sleeved shirts.  “I’ve seen fishermen who take their shirts off when it’s hot,” he said. “That’s a big mistake. You’re far more vulnerable to sunburn or sun poisoning.”

Vote!

Now’s the time to vote for your fave Elites to get into the All Star event. Very cool. David Walker said on the War Room show this weekend that if he’s voted in he’ll take one of the folks who voted for him fishing. Worth it!

Shot of the Day

A recent Clear Lake, CA 12-lber. Look at the head on her. What do you think during the spawn: 15?
