Today’s Top 3
1. I’m not exactly sure what the fish were doing.
– An awesome piece of honesty from IA’s JJ Patton, winner of the Cabela’s B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Northern Divisional.
He also said: “There was quite a bit of bait there but it was really a nothing bank. It was probably something most guys would drive by and not even fish.”
Fished a 1/4-oz Brovarney Baits Swim Jig (white/gold) – a killer bait! – with a 5″ Yamamoto grub (white), a Chatterbait-type lure (black/blue) and a 1/4-ounce Arkie Jig (black/brown) with a Beaver-style trailer. I think the swim-jig color was Gold Gringo:
2. I’m writing this as a concerned man. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) told me they counted 183 dead smallmouth bass in Dale Hollow Lake today.
– Bassmaster.com smallie columnist Steve Headrick. That sounds frickin’ terrible. That’s one of the best smallie lakes ever.
3. Check out Mercer “pitching!”
Somehow I missed this, but it’s cool: B.A.S.S. emcee Dave mercer pitching/casting the first pitch at a Blue jays game. Awesome that he got the rod out there….

Quote of the Day
I’m not going to go to a lake and fish deep when you’re either going to eek out five deep or five shallow. I’ll go shallow every single time.
– FLW Cup winner Jacob Wheeler on fishing Lanier.
Shot of the Day
Giant Canadian smallie caught by Abe Lincoln’s great grandson!
Just kiddin’ bro, but nice fish!
