Tip of the Day

Cold-water bobber bassin’ rigs.

Can you make yourself fish a bobber for basses? Not sure I can, but prolly would be fun. From here:

> One cold water technique that is gaining in popularity is the Wacky Bobber Rig. It is fished similar to the Float-N-Fly. The rig is simple, consisting of a wacky-rigged worm, 8-10 lb line, 8-10 lb fluorocarbon leader and a bobber.

> Run the line through the bobber and a small swivel below the float. Then tie a 4-8′ length of fluorocarbon line to a hook and rig a weightless sinking wacky worm.

> Cast this worm and it will sink, and then like the float n fly it will bob slowly in the action of the water bringing the worm to life.

> Float-n-Fly: Start with 8-lb test Berkley Fireline Crystal as the main line tied to a three-way swivel that clips to the bobber. Then a 4- or 6-pound fluorocarbon leader that is about 11′ long and dropping it down to 13 feet If you’re getting bites. Cast the rig to a shaded bank, keep a tight line….
