We all know the A-Rig is the hottest thing since I guess the Chatterbait. We all know that there’s at least 20 versions of it. But we don’t know just how big this crazy A-Rig phenomenon is – or I, at least, didn’t know until I got to the Classic.
That doesn’t mean people were walking around with A-Rigs on their heads, A-Rig earrings or whatever. Doesn’t even mean it was the most talked-about thing at the Classic. But when it did come up in conversations with folks in the tackle biz, holy macks – never heard such things.
Can’t give you exact deets, but when you hear things like 7-figure orders, offers to pre-pay in cash, tackle buyers running around the country trying to find enough A-Rigs to meet demand, and anecdotal stuff like garage A-Rig makers selling them locally no problem and club tourney winning weights doubling this time of year (Bull Shoals and Table Rock specifically) – wow.
Now if Jeremy Lin would just use an A-Rig, then it would really take off….

I heard Bobby Murray today at the Springfield Bass Pro have to tell someone the reason why the price of the “Yumbrella Rig” is so high is because “we’re capitalists – duh”.
Funny.
It’s actually cheaper than most of the others, he pointed out.
