11. Tackle Warehouse PSAs.
Big fall sale
The Z-Man Mini Max Chatterbait is a bestseller 👀
300-yard spools of Seaguar TactX Braid on stupid sale, just $4 more than 150 yards – You might recall this is a good line for sawing thru grass....
Some VMC Tokyo Rigs on sale, also the HD flippin' version
Lowrance HDS-16 Lives almost $900 off
12. Looks like Poor Boys is launching a 3" tube.
Not on TW yet.
13. Garmin launches ginormous touch screens...
...for the salt but you know bass guys are gonna figure out a way!
> Available with 19", 22", 24" or 27" touchscreen displays, these all-in-one chartplotters offer stunning 4K resolution with edge-to-edge clarity, powered by a processor that's 7 times faster than previous generations.
14. Couple smallie tips from a fly guy.
> On calm, flat water: ...present the popper, let it sit in the film, and wait until the ripples...disappear before imparting any action to the fly...just enough movement...to pulse the body and legs of the popper....
> ...Kiwi guides tell their clients to wait to set the hook until they recite the phrase "God save the Queen." [For trout, but he applies it to smallmouths.]
15. All Cabela's stores will now become Bass Pro Shops?
Green Pay Packers prez said so. If true it would seem to make biz sense....
16. BRP's Q2 report has zero mention of 'lectric boats...
...maybe other than this one line:
> Committed to growing responsibly, BRP is developing electric models for its existing product lines and exploring new low voltage and human assisted product categories.
17. MI DNR claims Asian carp DNA found in St Joseph River.
That whole eDNA thing is sketchy as heck in my 2c:
> "A positive eDNA sample does not necessarily indicate the presence of live fish."
18. NV: Mead is 22' higher than it was last year.
19. Will Hadar come to boats for low-light conditions?
Hadar sounds like a viking name to me but:
> Researchers at Purdue University have developed a patent-pending vision method.... The system, called HADAR or heat-assisted detection and ranging, allows robots to see in the dark the same as they can in sunlight.
> "Hadar...sees texture and depth through the darkness as if it were day and also perceives physical attributes beyond RGB – or red, green and blue – visible imaging or conventional thermal sensing. It is surprising that it is possible to see through pitch darkness like broad daylight."
20. Dick's Q2 was down due to theft.
In corporate-speak they're calling it "elevated inventory shrink." 🙄
> [CEO Lauren] Hobart maintained the issue is "increasingly serious," and Dick's CFO Navdeep Gupta told TheStreet that "the number of incidents and the organized retail crime impact came in significantly higher than we anticipated, and that impacted our Q2 results as well."
Sounds crazy, like we live in a lawless country where theft on that level is okay? Does tournament bass fishing now have more laws and rules than the United States?? 🤔
21. Former Rapala international CEO now heading up Grundens.
22. AL posting Asian carp signs at TN River ramps.
They're concerned enough about 'em that they want to make peeps aware.
23. VA wants a bigger blue cat commercial fishery.
Sounds like they are an expanding issue. Intro'd by the VA DNR in the '70s and '80s.
24. Keep an eye on...
AK suing fed gov't over who has authority over AK resources
Sounds like the feds started overreaching in 2021:
> ...the state was forced to defend itself because the federal government is suing the state. The federal government has been growing more and more aggressive in its efforts to take over state management of AK resources.
Animal rightists' try to ban fishing in Amsterdam fails...for now
Remember that most or all of the crazy stuff that starts in Europe ends up here, including "animal rights"....
Headline of the Day
Fisherman reels in stolen car from Mechanicsville pond
Can't happen, didn't happen!
Lines of the Day
...don't hold your breath believing that making your bass boat more glittery will automatically make it a fish magnet.
- From what might be another "A I" written post titled "Why Are Bass Boats Sparkly? 3 Main Reasons." 😆 But making a bass boat more glittery WILL make it a fisherman magnet!
"People in the area often focus on walleye and salmon while ignoring the bass...."
- Cyrus Ruel, TD for the D&R Sports derbies, talkin' the St Marys River, MI. Ignoring bass??
PSA
If you're at a latitude to where you're getting closer to the end of the season – or you're getting closer to mothballing your rig before deer season starts – encourage you to make sure you're running Sea Foam Marine PRO in your gas to keep things clean in there. Stuff is the real deal (regular Sea Foam Motor Treatment will work too).
