Welcome to Jay Kumar's BassBlaster, your daily-ish email of the best o' bassin'!

Make sure you're followin' Strike King on Faceybook if yer not already!

Today's Top 3

1. Z-train vs G-man.

G started it:

Z next:

Hahahaha!

Could this get ugly? Believe it already has…!

2. What I didn’t know was a handful of guys were throwing the A-rig through there and absolutely wrecking them.

Aussie angler Carl Jocumsen on fishing the Toho Open. Found the right fish, not the right rig.

Next is Amistad, the malnourished bass capital of the world…. Here's what Clunn said about it:

> The Lake is being a little stubborn but that is a great equalizer. Little local advantage under these conditions.

Nothin' the master of bassers can't overcome. Word.

3. Palestine fish might be record.

Initial weight was 13.02, but reweigh was 13.22 which would be a new lake record.

> Laughlin caught his fish from eight to 10 feet of 50-degree water on the north end of the lake near Kickapoo Creek using a Zoom Speed Craw.

Tip of the Day

Mark Menedez: Bladed jigs vs. spinnerbaits.

> The bladed jig can overpower a bass' senses. This is a major difference in comparison to a spinnerbait.  The spinnerbait can only be retrieved at a slow speed to achieve maximum vibration.

> Bright sunny days can put a damper on the productivity of a bladed jig. The flash of the blade may be too much under bright conditions. Anglers can choose a painted blade on the bladed bait or utilize a marker to dull the blade of this type bait.

> This is a 180-degree change from the thought process for a spinnerbait as they are typically used with bright flashy blade combinations. Dulling the bladed jig’s blade is a top secret of many Elite Series anglers!

> Experimentation with trailers for bladed jigs is a must. Strike King Swimming Caffeine Shads, Rage Grubs and other plastics lend more action and create a larger profile.  The addition of a Strike King Game Hawg creates the illusion of a bluegill.

Quote of the Day

If I didn’t have fishing – bass fishing – I don’t know how I could deal with the cancer stuff.

– Words of a young man named Mike Jacobs, as told to don barone. We just lost Mike. RIP bassin' brother. Mike also said:

> "Fishing is everything to me, takes my mind off of it, and gives me a certain kind of peace."

That's what bass fishing is about imo. Not as much catchin' fish.

db does us all a service by writing this stuff. Tough.

Shot of the Day

Cool GoPro shot from the G-man. If you don't think bassin' – or all of fishin' – video won't be all about POV (point of view) cams real soon, yer nutz.
