What’s Your State’s Bass Slam?

FloridaToday.com recently had an article about a guy who caught the Florida bass slam: Florida largie, Suwanee, shoal, spotted. He took 6 months to do it, and said he was inspired by an article in Bassin’master Mag. Cool!

Got me thinking about bass slams in other states, and maybe not limiting them to different species. For instance, I live in NJ, big bass capital of the world…not. We have largies and smallies and rock “bass,” which don’t really qualify as bass. So just two species.

BUT we have both species in lakes and rivers, tidal largemouths, plus some world famous bassin’ lakes…not. Okay, we do have some lakes that everyone in NJ knows.

So what’s the NJ slam? No idea. I’ll spend some time thinking about it when I’m stuck to a beer.

What would be a good slam in your state?

Give it some thought, send ’em in and if we get a bunch of good ‘uns we’ll ask for feedback then put ’em on a Slams page.

> Who had the first bassin’ slam? Unless there was one before the interwebz era, it was BassFan. Yep. Back in the day we had two slams – one largemouth, one smallmouth – as part of the BassFan Army program. Ergo I think slams are schweet! Just another way to enjoy these crazy fish….

For British Columbia, Canada, I’d say our Slam would need to look like this:

    Smallmouth over 6 lbs.
    Largemouth over 7 lbs.
Calico Bass (saltwater) over 4 lbs.

I would put a weight minimum since we don’t have 6 species to chase here. Might as well make it a little challenging.

For Missouri it would have to be:
Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spot and a meanmourh all from Table Rock. It could be a Table Rock slam.

For my Nothern Alabama Slammer you’d catch:

Largemouth (Over 18in) from TN River System
Smallmouth (Over 18in) from TN River System
Coosa Spoted Bass (Over 15in) from Coosa River System
Spotted Bass (Over 15in) Tallapoosa River
Shoal Bass (Over 14in) Tallapoosa or Coosa
Redeye Bass (Over 14in) Tallapoosa or Coosa

The goal would be to do this within a month. Your best Lake rotation would be Guntersville, Wilson, Logan Martin, Lay Lake, Jordan, and finish up on Lake Martin. The best month to do this would be in October.

In TX in addition to largemouth, we have smallies, spots, guadalupe, & now coosa spots in some locations.
