Today's Top 4

1. Shin wins at Champlain.

Japan's Shin Fukae won this weekend's Northern Open by 2 lbs with 56-13. What did he do? Something no one would ever think of (lol):

> He caught all of his fish on two baits: a Gamakatsu shad-shaped worm on a dropshot rig and a 4-inch Senko attached to a 3/16-ounce wacky rig jighead. The dropshot worked best for smallmouth while the wacky rig coaxed bites from quality largemouth.

Best largies were in 10 feet, "shallow." Btw, had to have largies, always a requirement for a major win on that lake.

2. I’ll be happy when I fish the Bassmaster Classic.

Shin Fukae talkin', now that he qualified for his first Classic…but "just happy to be there" won't win the Classic mang!

3. Sick crank color!

I love it:

I'd call it "radiation poisoning." You?

4. Does this bass make his head look fat?

Tip of the Day

Keith Combs: Fish squarebills…now??

Bueno palabras on WirelessDosFeesh:

> "Contrary to popular belief, both the forage and bass move very quickly throughout the summer, making a fast-moving squarebill an ideal selection. Even if they’re not hungry, you can still force feed it to ‘em.”

> “It’s very common for the deep bite to rapidly deteriorate this time of year,” Combs said. “Many times you’ll catch bass the deepest of the entire year when they first move offshore after the spawn—that’s when they’re happy living in 25 to 35 feet….

> "When the water starts flirting with that 90-degree mark, a lot of them are going to return to their shallow dwellings in search of more suitable water conditions.”
