Goggle Eye Capitol of the World? And…

…What Could Your Town Lay Claim To?

No idea how we stumbled on this T-shirt. Says, “Hootentown, Goggle Eye Capitol of the World.” Don’t know if that’s like being the radish capitol of the world or what, but….

Hootentown is in the MO Ozarks, and the goggle eye bass is the same fish as a rock bass, redeye, redeye bass, rock sunfish, green sunfish, branch perch, etc.

The rock bass wikipedia entry has this to say (doh):

> They are similar in appearance to smallmouth bass but are usually quite a bit smaller.

> This Species of Fish is the same as a smallmouthbass just smaller and a have little difference in color because of their diet in their home waters.

Uh, no.

Anyhow, interesting title to lay claim to. Could your area lay claim to bein’ the capitol of something in the fish or game world? Red squirrels maybe?

Yeah – Rock Bass are very common here in the Ozarks, but really the Finley (the major tributary of the James) has more and bigger “Goggle-Eyes” than the James, in my experience.

Wikipedia – the information source you can never trust.
