1. Bass fishin' condoms?
Not yet, but the uber-green Center for Biological Diversity" recently said it's given away 500,000 endangered species condoms – "that's at least a million conversations we've started about human population growth and the species extinction crisis."
Uh…yeah, sure. Conversations. That's what the kids tell their moms, anyhow.
Is this what bassin' needs to get to the mythical "next level"? ("Hey, I noticed you're using bass fishing condoms. Can you tell me about that?") Will Major League Fishing require use of rubber gloves when handling bass? Stay tuned to As the Bassin' World Turns….
Can you see the bass condom saying now? Don't think anything risque rhymes with bass….
2. Where swimbaits started?
One version, from a forum post:

Worm king dynasauer 12" trout swimbait was also popular long before Cole came out with his AC plug. The first boot tails were Kelp Critters that date back into the '70s. I was modifying Scrounger jigs with trout swimmers back in the early '80s. the Heddon Wiggle fish that dates back to early 30's would be a swimbait today….

2. AL: Auburn student does bass slams.
Kinda cool. Love the whole concept of bass slams, which I believe we pioneered back in the early Bassin'Fan days, but who's countin'. Anyhow, some Alabama student was going to make a run at the slams but is hidin' after this weekend's game….

Russ Lane: Fall/winter scroungin'.
Saw this pic on Russ Lane's FB page. That bottom shot is MONEY, made me want to fish it right then. Was going to run it just as a pic, but this what he posted along with it…which is VERY SMART (are you listening Elite pros).
BAIT: Big Bite Real Deal Shad.
RIG DESCRIPTION: 4" Real Deal Shad attached to a Buckeye Pulse jig or scrounger-type jig head.
ROD/REEL/LINE: 7' Med Hvy Castaway Skeleton / 6:1 / 12-lb Sunline Fluorocarbon.
COVER/STRUCTURE: Long, flat, main-lake points, humps and ledges with gravel, boulders and current.
APPLICATION: Make long cast upcurrent and let the rig sink to the bottom. Reel just fast enough that your bait stays close to the bottom and you can still feel the pulsing vibration from the tail and jig. This is a great late fall and winter rig, especially in fairly clear water.
