Today’s Top 3

1. Best tow vehicle ever?

> Elite Series pro angler Britt Myers [is] a well-known builder of custom Toyota Tundras for his fellow anglers. He had an idea or two for a singular Tundra with everything an Elite Series pro could imagine, plus a little more. The result is the “Ultimate Fishing Tundra,” which makes its public debut at Toyota’s display booth at the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas on Oct. 30.

> Myers solicited ideas from the Toyota Tundra Pro Angler team of Kevin VanDam, Terry Scroggins, Mike Iaconelli and Gerald Swindle. Myers, who owns North Carolina-based CS Motorsports, then turned his team loose on a 2012 Tundra CrewMax.

> All the gear in the bed is easily accessible by utilizing an automatic, motorized delivery system. …replaced the rear bench with bucket seats and custom-built a fiberglass console that stretches from the dash to the rear cab wall that includes built-in video monitors and subwoofers. Both front doors receive custom panels that will house extra speakers and monitors to play fishing videos and display Navionics lake-mapping options.

> Outside, the beefy Tundra gets a TRD Big Brake Kit and a 12-inch suspension lift…. A custom roof rack with special LED lighting and fishing rod storage will also be installed, along with a specially-designed grille….

> Leaving no lake un-fished, Myers’ team couldn’t resist adding a TRD supercharger and exhaust system.

No pic yet, but here’s his current truck:

2. Romney talks fishing…

..sorta. More like vacation houses in Canada and horseback riding in the Rockies, but whatever, it’s topical. You also get a dose of Chah-lee Moo-uh:

3. Clay Dyer gets ORCA.

This is WAY COOL cuz Clay is an awesome dude, for several reasons. Congrats Clay – and ORCA, you got a good ‘un.

> The Outdoor Recreation Co. of America (ORCA) has become an official sponsor of Clay Dyer, “the world’s most admired fisherman,” to promote the company’s line of American-made products.

> Jim Ford, ORCA owner, said, “It isn’t every day you get the opportunity to work with a person the caliber of Clay Dyer.”

> Dyer will represent ORCA at fishing tournaments in which he participates, at trade shows and at his many speaking events throughout the country.

> “ORCA’s plan is to manufacture top-quality, 100% American-made products and that makes me extremely proud,” Dyer said. “I have spent time with the owners, the management team and the folks who work in the plant and feel so blessed to represent all of them as part of what I do everyday.”

1. Tidbits from FL’s bass plan.

FL issued an update on the first year of implementing its plan to “ensure Florida is the Black Bass Fishing Capital of the World. Not much there, but couple tidbits:

> An example of current efforts to help create the next generation that cares is FWC involvement in laying the groundwork to incorporate bass fishing clubs into the Florida High School Athletic Association’s package of sanctioned sports.

> E-Tournaments – Two experimental E-tournaments were evaluated. Fish were weighed or measured on the boat while being photographed and then immediately released. E-tournaments reduced fish stress and are a good choice for bass anglers wanting to hold tournaments during summer or on waters where fish cannot be kept by law. However, no plans to require such tournaments are currently contemplated.
