Today's Top 5
1. TTT champs win by 20 POUNDS!
In a 2-dayer on Toledo Bend, Phil Marks (of 10XD fame) and Tim Reneau weighed 10 for 63.28 lbs:
STOUT!
2. 1,000 hard baits stolen from BP.
Thieves, crooks and criminals broke into Brandon Palaniuk's truck:
> “I had lots of baits that aren’t made anymore and others that have sentimental value, like the crankbait I was using on the Mississippi River before I got DQ’ed. That’s the biggest bummer. I can’t get those back.”
#sucks. Bet BP's new wrap ain't helpin':
3. Son, no matter what else happens today, you have just seen the magic that is out there.
– Gerald Swindle tellin' don barone what he told his marshal on his magical day 4 afternoon at Dardanelle…even though he wuz short a fin of winnin' his first Elite event. Also said:
> “db, no matter what happened on stage, that last 45 minutes for me on Dardanelle was magical, was as close to true ecstasy as I have ever gotten. I went from having 11 ½ pounds to 18 in 20 mins, my last cast caught a 4-pounder, it was as if the world just lined up for me, I was in the zone and could see things, feel things I have never felt before out there. It was magic out there and in my heart, in where no one else knows, my heart was at peace, I have seen how magical it can be…”
4. Why electronics prices will fall?
Thread on the Texas Fishing Forum – here's one of many on BassBoat Central – about using $400 iPads instead of $3,000 big-display fishin' electronics. Anyone smell sumpin' in the air?
Yep, $1 mil. Tough to know whether it was dumber to make it or buy it.
> Mac Daddy’s Fishing Lures…decorated with more than 4,000 diamonds and rubies, and is priced at a cool $1 million.

Tip of the Day
Terry Scroggins: Ledge bait selection.
> “I’m almost always going to start out with a deep crankbait when I’m fishing ledges for post-spawners. For whatever reason, I catch most of my big fish cranking – they have a hard time passing them up. This approach also allows me to cover water quickly and make the less-aggressive fish react."
> Big worm and football jig—“This is a great backup plan when the fish won’t each a big crankbait. Both of these baits are still bulky and catch big fish, but they’re a little slower which can produce a lot of extra bites.”
> Dropshot and shaky head—“In a lot of reservoirs, the bass tend to be extremely current-oriented throughout the entire summer. If you’re stuck fishing these ledges on a day with no water movement, don’t get discouraged—instead, rely on your finesse presentations. They will definitely still eat, but you might have to downsize your gear and coerce them into biting.”
Quote of the Day
Every one of these fish is giving me the finger.
