Big story today is one of our own was killed, sounds like trying to stop his rig from getting robbed at a Motel 6 in Texas. Was in town prefishing for the Bassmaster Central Open on Ross Barnett.
Makes me want to hug my kids and take them fishing – not crack ya a smile with the BassBlaster. But I'm a-gonna persevere with the BB today, in honor of our brother Jimmy Johnson. Never knew him, but I miss him…you know what I mean. RIP bassin' brother.

1. This fish won a truck!
A 7.81 on Gville (Guntersville, mang!) this weekend. Sudden-like these Oakley Big Bass Tour thangs don't sound so hard, do they?
2-day derby pulled anglers from 19 different states…stout!
2. Ex-fly dude wins bassin' darby.

Tip of the Day
> During pre-frontal conditions or thunderstorms, the winds generally blow from the south or west, which generally turns the bite on. During this time, the fish can be aggressive and I will target them with fast-moving baits.
> I will continue to fish the same during the storm as I do during pre-frontal conditions. The only exception is I will mix in a War Eagle buzzbait. A fall storm buzzbait bite can be a lot of fun, but you’ll never find it unless you try it.
> During the fall, with a storm looming, I always have a buzzbait on the deck. One thing to note is that after a storm, the bite continues for as much as a full day.
