Is it wrong to love breakfast sausage? I mean, sausage is good in general, but there's just somethin' extry-tasty about the breakfast version. Sometimes I have it for lunch so maybe callin' it breakfast sausage is too limiting? 😆 Reminds me of a few things:
- I put it in Thanksgiving Day stuffing. It is NECESSARY.
- A friend of my wife once in a while makes a "sausage bread" with breakfast sausage and Italian sausage. First time in years I've thought of that – time to make a call!
- Tell me a sausage-flavored Senko or whatever wouldn't be amazing. Don't wanna say anything crazy, but it MIGHT be better than...MaxScent. 😂
Anyone got some good "breakfast" sausage you wanna trade for baits lmk....
Hope all you folks hit by the hurricane are okay. Sounds like another one's brewin' on the East Coast. 🙏

Ever thought about line bow when you're fishing swimbaits? 🤔
|
|
Got to readin' this deal with Skeet "I've always been better-lookin' than Jimmy" Reese on the MLFers site, some good stuff in there like:
> If your boat’s moving or drifting while you’re fishing a swimbait, there’s a tendency for a bow to form between your rod tip and the lure. That bow or sag in your line can cause your bait to swim in an unnatural way rather than in a straight line, plus it cuts down on your sensitivity and ability to get a good hookset. You want to eliminate that bow as much as possible and to keep a tight line between your rod tip and the bait.
> One way to do that is to watch out for unnecessary boat movement or to change the angle of your casts to allow for that movement. It also helps to point your rod directly at the lure as you retrieve it. You’ll get a lot more strikes if your swimbait moves naturally.
I'm kinda sick to think how "unnaturally" I've fished a swimbait! More:
> I regularly fish an 8" swimbait in places where most anglers would only cast a hollow-bodied frog, and I’ll skip that same swimbait 40' up under a boat dock where bass have never seen a lure like it.
> If you fish a swimbait like you’re afraid to lose it, you’re not going to have the kind of success you’re looking for – and you just might lose it anyway. These lures are tools designed to get a bite or to reveal the presence of a big fish. If you’re not using them like tools, you’re missing a great opportunity and a lot of big fish.
Dang it I DO fish some baits like I'm scared to lose 'em! Stop it Skeet! 😁
> As a general rule, you don’t want to fish the big soft-bodied swimbaits by positioning your boat in deep water and casting to shallow water. Too much of your retrieve is out of the strike zone when you do that. You generally want to keep the bait near the bottom, and that’s harder when you retrieve from shallow water to deep....
> ...I prefer to position my boat in shallower water and cast to deep water, or to fish parallel to the shoreline across water that’s likely to be about the same depth. When you fish uphill it’s much easier to control your depth....
Man after readin' that I feel like I'm this dude:

Is this Jacob Wheeler's new Great Lakes boat??
|
|
He calls it the "Whopper Flogger":
|
|
I mean, why get on your knees with some hand-held deal when you can just look through the hull??
😆 Don't put it past him man! (Or Ott DeFoe, the king of illegal boats...😁)

3 bass fishing words that could be names for prog rock bands.
|
|
> In the wintertime a lake is Isoclinetic, meaning the temperature and oxygen content is virtually the same from the bottom of the lake to the surface of the water.
> At the peak of summer there will be 3 distinct layers to the lake. The top layer, which is the Epilimnion, the middle layer named the Thermocline and the bottom layer, which is labeled the Hypolimnion.
Guess "thermocline" could be one too, but we know that one kinda too well. Maybe it's a better song title? Lol here's some prog rockin' memes for all you fanz:
|
|
Bahahahaha! If you wanna get yer brain beat on, check Dream Theater's new tune "The Alien." Thought it was an instrumental at first – the singing didn't come in til 2:14!! After multiple changes! But all good cuz the tune clocks in at 9:32...🤯

I wanna feel like this this weekend!! You?
|
|
Felt like that many a time and need to again!
Of course on that post she got the fish-slime trollers – my fave comment was this:
> "Go catch some damn fish and give them hugs and affection they need"
Eggggg-zackly! 😂

Kolo "Jeff" Kolodozinski is doing a 24-hour fish for 9/11.
|
|
Short version: Kolo, great guy, works for Humminbird/Minn Kota, brother in Christ, enough caffeine-fueled energy to power a major-league ballpark for 5 consecutive days (or 2 consecutive AC/DC shows 🎸), every year tries to catch a world record number of fish in 24 hours and has set that record a few times. But this year he's gonna try to catch 2,977 fish in honor of each life lost on 9/11. Honestly I almost teared up about it.
|
|
No word on what happened, please pray for his family and friends. Didn't know Mike well but did know him a bit, good dude. Very sorry to hear this. Bless you bassin' brother. 🙏
|
|
Missed some practice, not sure about the tourney yet. Also not sure if it's the bad stuff, either way please 🙏 !
Short vid, all 3 'lectronics brands on the bow ( Garmin Live, Humminbird 360, Lowrance 2D/waypoint) and a MotorGuide Tour Pro troller, which is what he mostly talks about:
|
|
Q: When he talks about sonar, is he talkin' 'bout himself?? I mean, wouldn't that be real egotistical? 😂
That's what the headline said but:
> He...has been catching from 15-30 fish a day. Most of his fish are being caught on a plastic topwater frog cast to the weed mats. He said there were a lot of baitfish around and the bass were constantly blowing up around him.
> The Best Bass Tournament (BBT) held last Saturday drew 79 boats and just about every team caught a five-fish limit. The winning weight was 24 lbs.
Sounds pretty dang good!
> Cook comes to LR from Newberry College, where he was the bass fishing team captain and president for 4 years.
Dang I did – good-lookin' bait too:

Thinkin' 'bout a BassBlaster edition...🤔
2 minutes of making yer bassin' mouth water (maybe)!

Ruh-roh raggy – see any bass lakes mentioned??
> The US Fish and Wildlife Service proposed Friday to list the pyramid pigtoe mussel as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. ...the mussel was once widely distributed, with 151 known populations across 18 states, but now has just 35 known populations in 9 states, including AL.
> In AL, the mussel can be found in the Paint Rock River and the Tennessee River system, according to Tierra Curry of the Center for Biological Diversity, a conservation group that petitioned the USFWS to protect this species. Curry said the mussel has been found in Wheeler Reservoir, Guntersville tailwater, Pickwick Reservoir and Wilson tailwater.
Okay couple things:
a) These types of things have been ramping up because environmental groups see a friendlier DC Administration.
b) Once again, beware of the intentional MIScharacterization of environmental groups as "conservation groups." Conservation groups are us – hunters and anglers. They're trying to take that word (and concept) from us. That's becoming more common now – they're trying to redefine what conservation is.
> ...a cryptic freshwater crustacean that is endemic to streams on Sand Mountain within the Tennessee River Basin in DeKalb and Marshall counties, AL. This rule adds this species to the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife. In addition, we designate approximately 78 river miles in DeKalb and Marshall counties, AL as critical habitat for the species under the Act.
78 miles is a lotta miles!
Issue is wastewater treatment plants were not designed to filter out flushed drugs....

Headline of the Day
Say wha?? Talkin' 'bout other fish species in Clear Lake, CA, so that is a bold-faced LIE! 😁 Clear Lake IS bass just like Bocephus IS country! Or somethin' like that....
Lines of the Day
HOBBY?? Hobbies ain't this expensive and don't dominate your brain even when you're asleep! 🤣
Good for her (#girlpower) but I don't see any gender barriers in fishing. The fish don't care who's on the other end of the rod mang! (Until the hookset I mean...😁)
PSA
> "Pulling my boat out of the water for winter storage is the most depressing time of the year for me. I have friends that always have motor problems come spring when they put their boats in the water. I am always calm because I use Sea Foam Marine PRO during the season and for winter storage. The boat starts up first try every spring!"

On BassBlaster.rocks right now...

Gotta admit been lazy about this but not anymore. IG vid but here's a few excerpts:
> "When I go to land that fish, I want my knot...inside my spool. ...I want it to go straight through my guide.
> "That knot is a hevier point..so it's gonna want to sink down, and if that fish comes up and jumps, it can throw that knot around a guide....
His rod is the Alpha Angler DSR, which stands for "Dept of Science Rods" – do yourself a solid and NEVER say to Alpha's Jake Boomer that it should be DRS, or the "Dept of Rod Science." He gets reeeeeal testy man...😆
|
|
"9 times outta 10 I'm gonna land that fish right here in my boat."
- Brandon Palaniuk talkin' in that leader-length vid. So gotta wonder: Where is he 1 time outta 10? In mid-air? Sitting on the cowling? In his truck??
One of the most mysterious bassin' statements ever...lol BMP 😂

Feel like I gotta say something about the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Not sure why but here goes.
Happened not too far from where I grew up. One friend died in the towers, some more folks I knew who went to my high school or friends of friends too. Still remember the military helicopters flying over all the smoke in the city.
Please don't feel sorry for me – that's not why I'm saying this stuff, and I'm blessed to still be here. Guess I just wanna say this:
- If possible, please don't post pics of the towers burning. It's okay if you do, I'm not judging, just asking because it hurts to see it, like I bet it would seeing the building in OKC every year, or buildings wrecked by hurricanes or any other tragedy you can think of if people you knew lost their lives.
- I still haven't been to where the towers were and really don't want to go. Probly never will. Honestly still a little angry about it. Shouldn't be though....
- Years after it happened, I took some time to look into it – meaning how it happened and what happened. I was completely smacked in the face. If even half the stuff I saw is true, I'll be pretty dang mad...and I don't like to get mad! Sure would like to see some info come out one way or the other, but I guess if we still can't see the President Kennedy stuff (#sketchy) my hopes ain't up too far.
