Vid Warm-Up To Cullgate

Dang! Just read through Bo’s 8-parter (yes 8) about the Karen Savik DQ and related issues, which Bo is rightly calling “Cullgate.” Good work, you’ll enjoy it.

You’ll read them all next week, starting Monday, but in the meantime here’s a little video-driven preview:

I do not have a dog in this race as I do not participate in these tournaments. But, I am disappointed at some of the responses on the other forums. If you are going to be in the public eye and represent a sport you better know what you can’t do. It has nothing to do with gender, jealousy, ect…. She did something wrong and now has to deal with it, plain and simple. And yes, I would feel the same way if it was a man.

On a side note, it looks like she was very lucky. After a quick scan at Minnesota public records it appears she almost had 2 game violations in three years. It is a automatic revocation of all licenses if you get two tickets in 3 years and she missed it by less than 2 months. Hopefully this is just oversight on her behalf and will learn from her mistakes and becomes better than she already is.

She has dealt with it and paid her ticket i hear. A male angler admitted culling but ABA did nothing about that. This is about ABA DQ’ing a angler for following their rules. Read Texas Bass Forum, see what other tournament fisherman and anglers say about it. Can’t wait to read CULLGATE.

I was just told a story by someone special, and very high in the industry. Rick Clun came to a weightin and was putting his net away when the angler next to him said, this was a no net tournament. Rick threw all his fish back. Then 7 other teams did the same. It’s all about your Intregraty, and honesty. Karen was honest, took her fine and DQ, that’s intregraty. Howie was honest, now where’s the honesty and intregraty of the rest of the anglers and ABA.

I have to say there was one person at ABA who was honest, Joe Angelone.
