Best Places to Drink Like a Fish

Most of the anglers I know like to do two things: fish and tell stories (lies) about fishing.

And while fishermen won’t hesitate to tell their tales in just about any setting, there’s little doubt that one of the best places to shoot the bull on bass (or whatever species you like to flap your gums about) is with your belly up to a bar.

It appears the folks at OutdoorLife.com know the same lie-telling, yarn-spinning, “I swear it was this big!”-gesturing anglers that I do, because they recently ran down the nation’s 25 best piscatorial pubs, where anglers can sip suds and tell sob stories about the one that got away.

Have any of you Bass Paraders ever visited any of the locations on the list? I’m sad to say I haven’t stepped foot inside a single one of these fine establishments. Who’s up for a road trip?

They should have a contest like bassmaster magazines bass slam for visiting these bars. It sounds like a good time.
    Catfish Charlies looks especially appetizing!

I like the way you think, Jeff! I can see it now: The Great Bass Parade Pub Crawl of 2011.

They need at add East Fork near lake Fork. It’s a dive, but you only go there if you’re fishing or looking for chubby WT girls.

Jay, if you’re buyin’, I’m flyin’ !! The only caveat is: We HAVE to go drunk bass fishing afterwords, from the bank, safety goggles are NOT optional, and the exclusive use of black buzzbaits is required.

In Branson, stop in at the Rowdy Beaver or Outback Pub.

    Cold PBR awaits …

I can’t believe they left off the Bearded Clam in Kimberling City, MO. They’ve got a mean blackened tilapia.

Are you serious, there is a bar named the bearded clam!
That sounds like a dream vacation destination, what other dishes do they serve?

I know. I was quite surprised to see a bar named like that in rural Missouri. Vegas, yes. Kimberling City????. I was there for the final event the year Martens edged out Marty Stone for the AOY (and Hackney got his first BASS win).

Sneaky Pete’s at Lake Lewisville in Texas is pretty sweet too.

I have family in Justin just outside of Dallas/Ft. Worth. That one may have to be a stop my next time down there.

Sneaky Pete’s is badass. The scenery is great in the summer time also.

I have dined and imbibed at the Bearded Clam at Table Rock, but it was years ago and I wasn’t sure if it still was open.

It is economical to commute between the rowdy beaver and the bearded clam? We have no bars of this caliber where I come from.
