Isn’t the interwebz great – sometimes, anyway. You can be minding your own bidness when someone sends you a link that leads to another link and so on – and before you know it you’ve wasted 3 hours of your day/night….
Luckily in this case it wasn’t a waste. Happened on two vids of Rick Clunn talking about squarebills. He gets into the history of the bait (I love that stuff), and talks about why his Lucky Craft RC Series baits work – and are worth the coin. That’s his former series of baits, now that he’s endorsing Luck E Strike squarebills.
The two vids below have parts that are the same, but unique info in each.
Btw, check out Rick’s mantel…and that’s probably only about 5-10% of what he has. Clunn!

Big price difference in the LC and the Lucky Strike baits, I have not fished the LS version yet, but they feel very solidly made.

The KVD squarebill is hot as well, and the Xcalibur squarebill has been producting for me too. The Xcalibur is a great bait because it doesn’t dive as deep as the other squarebills that are similar to the LC. That makes it a class of its own.

I think its funny that in the video he claims there are “none better” than the LC’s. I am sure he is singing a different tune now.
I am happy for him. I would pump my stuff up too if they assigned my name to a particular bait…………regardless of maker.
Those that have a lot of history with the LC version probably will be really resistant to adopting to the LS version. The LC’s work, and work well.

and before LC it was……………….THUNDERSHAD!! I have a crapload of those I picked up as paint “seconds”. TS, LC, L”E”S, all of them catch fish, any schmoe can throw paint at a canvas, it takes a genius to make the paint come alive and create a masterpiece…..

I just snapped the bill off a Poe’s RC-3 last weekend…..It was blowing 50mph, of course I was casting (only possible because they are cedar) into the wind next to rip rap, actually, after it did a spectacular bounce, all I got back was the bill………

Only real fisherman can wear a ponytail with dignity like RC!
