BassBlaster

Great bassin’ memes, Air brushed baits, Bobby Lane search baits

Hope your Christmas was good bass-heads! Here’s a Blaster for you, the only one this week, hope you dig it. You’ll also be getting an email from me on Thursday and again next week sometime about a new way to get the BB so look out for that.

Hope y’all get a great start to the ’17! Make sure you set some bassin’ goals…or they won’t happen…which you can get the NFL’s Dean Blandino to make excuses for…because seems like that’s what he does? Thank your TD the next time you see him for actually knowing what he’s talkin’ ’bout! (Most of ’em anyway…lol.)

If you’re getting the BassBlaster for the first time it’s cuz a bud signed you up!

Today’s Top 5

5 great bassin’ memes.

For the record these are pronounced “meems” not “mee-mees:”

Hahahaha!

Best of Overstreet’s top 150.

2016’s best bassin’ shots as chosen by the best shooter in bassin’. Little known fact: They asked him for 100 shots but he loves his stuff so much he sent in 200, which they trimmed to 150. HAHAHA JO! Some of my faves:

Who knew KVD holds his breath when he casts:

Here he is doing it again!

Not sure but I think Trip is laughing at KVD’s bicep? And maybe Kevin is too? lol

Brett Hite showin’ what it takes to…finish 2nd — hahaha Hite!

Here’s Seth Feider singin’ “We Are The Champions” with a smallie on Mille Lacs. I like the classic version, but Seth usually digs the Baby Queen “We’re Out Of Pampers” version:

Lipless cranks for search baits.

Bobby Lane give us a lesson on finding fish fast, like if you’re a time-limited Elitist or weekend warrior. Pretty interesting…even if he does sound a little ticked the whole time. Why is that Bobby? (Your brother maybe told me to say that.)

Interesting he avoids the ultra-common 1/2-oz size in favor of 3/4-oz and 1/4-oz — namely the 3/4-oz DUEL Hardcore Flashi’n Vibe and 1/4-oz Yo-Zuri Rattl’n Vibe. Some sick colors in those baits. Here’s one of my faves: metallic bleeding shad.

Air-brushed soft-plastics: whachoo think?

In my travels around the bassin’ interwebz, sometimes I see things that stop me for a sec. The baits a company named Stankx posts do that pretty often, then this one made me contact the owner:

That’s the NXT LVL Jerx in “rad gill.” Pretty rad fo sho. The not-secret sauce is airbrushing. Asked Travis the owner how that happened: “I get bored easily, and handpoured baits were losing their allure to me. It was a move to do something new and change the market I’m in. The airbrush allows me to add details that can’t be achieved through most plastic methods, and makes it very difficult for others to duplicate.”

You ain’t just whistlin’ Dixie mang! He’s been pouring since 2009 and painting since 2013. Bait packs retail at $8.99-14.99. And some come with their own plasma drive:

Good-lookin’ gals and…carp??

Are carp really that sexy in Europe? Guess so:

That’s from a calendar. And this:

Not sure I’ve ever seen anything more gross…or weird….

News

1. LA: Headstone set for Dylan Poche.

Elitist Keith Poche’s nephew who lost his life earlier this year. Love from bass-heads to the Poches.

If you buy good line, better take care of it. Important.

He already kicked it off but check the vid:

4. Vid of the Cody Meyer WR spot.

Well here ’tis, as videoed by Tim Little of Tactical Bassin’, tho he pronounces it “Tackle Bassin'”:

6. FLW gets Yeti coolers.

No link I could find.

7. How Strike King baits get developed.

Bassin’Fan story about the KVD 1.5, but the process applies to all Strike King baits. My fave lines:

> It probably helped that he won the 2011 Bassmaster Classic with it shortly after its release. [Ya think??]

> From time to time, [SK bait designer Phil Marks] will order a case of lures off the production line and pool-test them to do his own quality control. If he finds something he doesn’t like, those baits will get culled out. [I LOVE that!]

Phil Marks is Strike King’s best kept secret — possibly true fact is he was the inspiration for this movie inventor:

Btw a new season of Strike King’s Pro Team Journal show starts this Friday, Dec 30 at 11:30am EST on The Outdoor Channel.

8. Giant craw findin’s.

Heard from a bunch o’ BB readers about giant craw plastics. Results ‘r here on BassBlaster.rocks, here’s one pic:

9. TX: Bassin’ Champs guaranteein’ $2.5 mil next year.

Dang!

10. Check this jig/trailer combo.

Diggin’ this color combo — of a BOOYAH Bankroll Jig (“juice”) and YUM Pulse in gray flake shad:

11. Z talks the T-H Tackle Titan.

Want to look like you’ve got it together on the water? Here you go:

b511e08d-4135-44b8-9442-6bd4861ebbd3

Git it at Tackle Warehouse.

12. Shimano “Do fish feel pain” vid.

Short answer is no — else they’d run right at us and sit there by the boat, I guess. Not sure why the vid, but guess it can’t hurt the feeshn cause. Interesting shot below: hooked bass (right) totally calm vs non-hooked bass.

Tip of the Day

Mark Menedez: How to cast a baitcaster.

Seriously! Basic but hugely important — 135K views yo! His quick flipping tip at the end is $$$ too:

Said he learned to cast “sideways” in physics class: “That way your spool is spinning the same way the world is going around….”

Don’t think that made sense to Thor:

Quote of the Day

That’s $19,650 in tournament expenses so far, with three events still remaining before the year is over — vs the roughly $14,000 I paid in tuition as a full-time student at the University of Minnesota.

Trevor Lo talkin‘ ’bout a-feeshn the Opens. That $20K didn’t include entries…. Stay in school folks!

Shot of the Day

Check this angry red-eyed bass shot from the above JO shot collection — sweet:
