BP on BP: Quick Quotes from Day 2

Just got off the phone with our boy BP. He weighed in 11-07 today and sits in 20th place two days into his first Bassmaster Elite Series tournament. Here are a few quick quotes from our conversation. He’s well within striking distance of making the Top 12 cut in his first event, but he’s got to have a better day tomorrow.

Fish On, Fish Off
“I had a bad execution day, today. I only brought three fish in for 11-07. I had the 4th and 5th fish on, but lost them both. One was a male about 1-1/2 pounds. The other was a female about 5 pounds. So if you take my weight and add 6 pounds to it I’d be looking at a Top-10 spot instead of a Top-20. I still feel pretty good about where I’m at, though.”

Day 3: What to Expect
“I like my chances tomorrow, but this is Florida and anything can happen. A lot of fish pulled up today, but I didn’t see any of those really big fish—the 7-, 8- and 9-pounders. I saw a couple of 5’s, and I’ll check on those tomorrow. Maybe I can get them to eat.”

No Pressure
“I’ve only seen two or three other guys in my general area, so it’s not like you’ve heard about a dozen guys in one pond fishing for the same bedding fish. I’m able to move around in my area and fish pretty relaxed.”

What do you think, BassParaders? Can Brandon catch a big bag on day 3 and make the Top 12 cut? He sounded confident on the phone, and the fact that he’s not in a high-pressure area bodes well for him.

BP has a lot of potential to make it big in this sport. His personality & demeanor seem to be there to make a big run in the Elite series. I really hope he makes the final cut!
