Hope you all have a good weekend and are getting cooler weather. Word is we had a mild summer here in TX. Good because it was plenty hot! But those 4 hot months are what we traded 5-6 cold/snowy months for. I'll make that trade any dang day!
Salutin' anyone who can bass all day long in the TX summer. If you can do that, you can handle fishing anywhere man, dang!
Finally got a couple new batteries on the way, so I'm gonna anticipate a launch of the SS Bassquatch pretty dang soon. If I don't, I'm gonna down to the ramp and beg for a ride. Sheesh! Have a good weekend man!

"I've noticed that the fish rarely go down to the bottom and get it...."
- Alton Jones Jr talkin' on the MLF site about fuzzy baits. Full quote:
> "I've noticed that the fish rarely go down to the bottom and get it, so the slower fall is critical. Anything deeper than 12', I'll rig it on a dropshot and use a longer leader of around 18 inches to separate the weight from the bait."
Most interesting thing to me is that with all the fuzzy baits, now guys are figuring out the nuances of 'em. Remember Trey McKinney saying after he won St Clair that some fuzzy shapes do better than others.

"It is like a glide bait...you'll get the 5 bites you need if you keep throwing it."
Amazing. Sounds a lot like yak mega-champ Drew Gregory. These guys power-fish all the time, way up shallow. They prove that there's still lots of bass trying to get caught in skinny water.
Btw "abondanza" is Italian for "abundance"...of fish I guess!
Also "Iaconelli" is Italian for "drives boat like crazy man". 🤣

Cool new stuff spotted on Tackle Warehouse
Little legs that move (a little 😁) and HexTek dimples to release more BaitFuel scent, but what I like is that little "hinge" on the head that lets that thinner head move/wave more.
5" Bass Assassin K.O. Assassin
Comes in 2.25, 2.5 and 3, which is interesting, and so is the "made out of premium-grade plastisol" thing. Wonder if that makes it swim better?
Biwaa Glidbeast Glide Bait

120 and 145, so smaller, and I find it strangely attractive...you could say compelling...😁 Slow-sink and about $25.
Decoy R-52 Swivel Split Ring
Never seen one and think it's genius. I mean, a split ring with a swivel. If the swivel is good, should be real useful. Love to A/B it with a snap swivel.

What wally-eye FFSing looks like
Crazy deal to us bass-heads but I guess it's one way they do it up there. Our new guy, college angler Brett Jolley, took that pic in MN while standing on the back deck and also fishing – picking off fish the other 2 guys couldn't see.
After that and breaking a $600 fishing rod, not sure he's invited back lol.

No action tip + Updates on greens, purple, shrimp, jig TRDs

> Andrew Oestringer's fish measured nearly 2' long and weighed 7-06 on his personal scale. That's 10 oz heavier than the official state record.
> Oestringer...wasn't certain the fish was record-breaking when he pulled it in.... He doesn't usually eat smallmouth bass, but his wife had asked for fishcakes – her preferred way to eat them.
> Instead of driving the fish to an official weigh-in, he scaled and filleted it at home. He added onions, peppers, breadcrumbs, egg and a dash of Old Bay seasoning...before frying up the meal.
Caught on Lower Symes Pond from a kayak.
8. OH still trying to make walleye the state fish
Don't let it happen bass peeps! 😁
9. AR: Baxter Health Foundation tourney coming to Norfork
The "Bass Classic," team tourney, Nov 7-8:
> All proceeds from the tournament benefit Baxter Health Foundation's annual fund, supporting healthcare initiatives in the region.
10. Dang lookit this Yo-Zuri squarebill!
Perfect fall color for a squarebill or what! The Yo-Zuri 3DB Squarebill in 'pearl black splatter.' 🔥 Warning: If you like squarebills and go on that bait page on TW, you might buy several – Yo-Zuri's colors in that bait are amazing.
11. New Berkley Ripfish
As usual something different from the Berkley folks:
> ...a first-of-its-kind combination of a fast-dropping lipless bait and a wide-gliding hard bait....
> Built around a sleek, minnow-profile body, the Ripfish brings together rapid fall rates with erratic lateral movement, creating a hybrid action that excels in vertical and forward-facing sonar presentations.
> With its flat-bottom design and precision-tuned balance, the Ripfish responds instantly to angler input – darting, gliding or hovering.... Whether you're sinking it down through the water column, yo-yoing with tight vibrations, or coaxing a wide glide-out, this bait stays in the strike zone....
That sounds a bit like the Berkley Finisher, the FFS-oriented (but not only) hard bait they intro'd last year.
The Ripfish has, flat bottom, 3D eyes, a high-pitched rattle, Berkley Fusion19 trebles. The rear fin location and design are to control drag.
TW has both sizes, 7cm and 9cm.
12. There's a bunch of new Senko colors 👀
I think I got 'em all – all colors not available in all sizes: purple emerald cinnamon brown/purple blue laminate (pictured top), gp/black blue laminate (pictured bottom), glowstick (all chartreuse), OG junebug, sungill, redbug, motor oil red flake and TX tilapia. TW has 'em.
13. Kistler is running a buy a rod get a free reel promo 👀
Tough to beat that!

15. 4 new Plano EDGE boxes
The Deep Hang Box, Short Hang Box, Lipless Box [👆 that lipless box looks a lot more stress free and safer than what I have lol] and a Hard Minnow Box. Don't know if you have one of the Edge boxes, but they are built like tanks and:
- Dri-Loc O-ring seal for waterproofing, with Water Wick divider and moisture-wicking packet for improved airflow.
- EZ Label labeling system with pre-cut and pre-separated vented dividers for customized and safe tackle organization.
- Rustrictor base provides 360° rust prevention to keep gear safe.
- Clear lid for quick content identification.
- Oversized latch for quick, secure, one-handed operation.
They ain't cheap but they're really good! Don't see 'em on TW yet....
BUT the new versions of the Plano Stowaway are on TW now. Same prices, much better (I've sen 'em in person and have one).

Casting frogs onto the bank
From an older Bassmaster post full of frowggy gems🧃:
> As everyone knows, small frogs hang out right at the water's edge, popping into the water when you approach. We use the smallest frog we can locate, toss it up on the bank or shoreline, and "pop" it into the water.
> Let it sit for no more than 2 seconds, and pop it away from the dirt. This is in open water and right up against standing tules, sunken brush and fallen trees. ...I'll add a splitshot right at the eye of the hook, which will pull the nose underwater immediately....
> Always jiggle the rod tip, which creates movement of the legs, and fish...EXTREMELY slowly.

Kinda different shot of a Larry or Marge posted by Jackall Japan. Notice the unusual feathered/tinsel trailer on that bladed jig:
