Here's my question for the day: On the bow...1 big screen or a couple small ones? 🤔 That huge screen on Bobby Lane's rig was super easy to see stuff on man...but yep I know it's $$$!

Would you wait at the corner every day for this bus?

How to catch 13+ lb bass in Florida.
|
|
Cool breakdown by various parameters of those catches reported to the state. Here's a few graphics, first baits of course:
|
|
This one's a little bit of a head-scratcher:
|
|
Are big fat bass more active in the heat of the day? Before you answer that Q, check this one out:
|
|
It MIGHT be those 2 graphs mostly or somewhat indicate when most folks fish (middle of the day, nice weather) but still innerestin' cuz the bigs still had to bite then.
|
|
Willing to bet – with no other data – that most of the above is true in other big-largie states with similar water body types (in this case natural lakes). As BassGold has proved to me and many others, all water bodies of the same type fish basically the same NO MATTER WHERE IN THE COUNTRY THEY ARE. For real.

Big Bite has new jighead for forward-facing sonar. 👀
|
|
Might not be the first one (?) but it's the first one I've heard of and it's a pretty dang cool idea...even though most folks can't afford Live yet...though all the electronics manufacturers are sold out! Few mode deets:
> ...when using forward facing sonar you may be dropping baits to as deep as 50+ feet. As your jighead rigged with a plastic falls it will commonly spin and create line twist. The Pendulate Jighead features an innovative design where a swivel is molded directly into the head of the jig to prevent line twist.
> By having the swivel molded directly into the jighead and one end used as the line tie, it creates a smaller profile for the jighead, thus making for a more natural appearance in clear water or when targeting pressured fish.
> Another added benefit of the molded in swivel is that the eye will spin when under strain from a fish, allowing them to apply less pressure when hooked.
> ...features a custom Gamakatsu hook that has a larger gap and acute bend....
1/8, 3/16, 1/4 and 3/8 oz, 4 colors, MSRP $5.99 for 3.

Ever see this at your marina??
|
|
That's Brian Robison and gotta say it's a new one on me man...😳
Fat Cat Newton had the best comment:
> Was it guarding a bed?
🤣 🤣

Can't get em all in so if I missed yours apologies!

Top row L to R:
1. Ott DeFoe was fishing with his bud Derrick Sprague and caught a "duuurrrp," Ott called it. 😂 love it! Any day that one of the top pros in the world gets stoked about a derp is a dang good and funny day!
2. Cliff Crochet's took John Pojhman froggin' in the Atchafalaya Basin and John got him the fish of a lifetime on a black Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect Frog. Look how stoked he is!
3-4. Ricky Harris and his bud Matthew Mattingly (pic under Ricky) were fishing St Clair and BOTH got derped! 👊 "...nearly caught derps on back to back casts. Thinking maybe the largemouth on St Clair have derpitis. Thank you for making derpin' cool!" Hahaha it's always been cool man!
Middle row, just the middle shot:
5. Marty H and his "bassin' hound" (he said 😂 – too funny man!) caught this NICE one! Congrats!
Bottom row L to R:
6. The one 'n only Stacey King got this'n on a Bass Pro Shops Tender Tube (avocado). Sticker on the way Stacey!
7. Derps live in every state! Here's one caught by Chris S in WA on a Brush Hog (gp).
8. Cali Delta derp! Bill [no last name given] was dropshottin' a 7" Roboworm (MMIII).
Congrats fellas!

Dang hate to hear it – good update ^ from Bassin'Fan. Here's the guys who are not fishing, sounds like some or all still battling 🙏. Chris Lane will be at a family wedding.
Luke Clausen
Dustin Connell
Mark Daniels Jr.
Anthony Gagliardi
Randy Howell
Chris Lane
Fletcher Shryock
Like B.A.S.S., MLF will now let pros drop 1 tourney but after the AOY points race is done – so it impacts requalification and Redcrest. Rest up and get better soon guys! Please send 'em up some prayers...🙏
Also proves that pink worms catch 'em in TN.
Also likes a M-action rod for 'em. Never pictured Tharp as a small-bait guy...I find it strangely disturbing 😱 😁
FTX Armor Jacket and Bibs, MSRP less than $300 for both. So new I couldn't find a good pic of it but I did hear it has pockets for multiple sonar units...😂
> "If the water is clear, I'll use green pumpkin or watermelon just like I'm fishing in open water."
> "The hook I use is bigger than a lot of guys use, but I haven't seen an instance where a bigger hook doesn't go through a mat as well. Plus I want the biggest hook I can get to make sure I get a big one into the boat."
He'll be talking about his 2 specialties = tuna casserole and pumpkin fries. 🤣 lol Mark!
> Summer Grove's Sportsman's Night Out is slated to begin at 5:00 pm on Thursday, Aug 26 at Summer Grove Baptist Church in the old South Park Mall at 8924 Jewella Ave in Shreveport.
Two of the most entertainin' and knowledgeable dudes about the biz:
> National Professional Anglers Assn annual conference, Kalahari Resorts and Conventions, WI, Oct 20-22.
Said the weird "koinkydinks" happened all season as they do when it's your time.
Notice I didn't say "un-American" because all rednecks are American mang! 👊 Anyhow, pretty cool that Jeff Gustafson, Taku Ito and Carl Jocumsen are gamified. Heard the only one that needs subtitles is Gussy – HAHAHA Gussy!
...with this'n – outstandin'!

Bahahaha take THAT Instagram! Maybe it's just me but I thought that was hilarious!
Podcast, very humble beginnings, love the work ethic. John is also a saved man!
> This was the first tournament I ever fished by myself as a boater.
> I have fished Oneida Lake a lot. I fish a lot of team tournaments on the lake during the weekends. But I'm by no means the guy the other anglers fear. I'm not a hot stick on the lake.
When it's your time....
14 years of being the best writer in a particular, unconventional way that bassin' has ever had, literally irreplaceable. That's my 2c and you ain't changin' my mind! Says he's got 5 more writin's to do and will be done by the end of the year. Already miss him cuz I haven't seen him!

Okay just messin', here's a shot from Kelly Jordon's Insta:
|
|
Here's a YT vid on it – Ron Pierce is scary but does collect rubber duckies so he's mostly bark and not much bite...HAHAHA! (Sorry I outed that Short!)

🧐 Looks pretty good!
Not good man:
> Silver carp...were recently discovered in Choctaw Creek in Grayson County. The creek rises about 15 miles downstream from Lake Texoma near Sherman, and runs northeast about 38 miles before dumping into the Red River....
Sounds like 'lectric and "more advanced biofuels" are the deal now. 🤔
I'm no expert on that stuff but more US jobs sounds good:
> A report revealing that 83% of US manufacturers are planning to add North American suppliers to their supply chains within a year will make interesting reading for a fishing tackle industry battling to keep pace with rising consumer demand.
In Europe anyhow:
> ...Warchalowski noted that consumers have begun returning to other pre-pandemic recreational activities and this could slow down future sales.
Again wonderin' why we aren't doing that here out west?? Maybe weather mods have a bad side?
Line of the Day
Someone print that out and hand it to Andy Montgomery...🤣
Vid of the Day
Russia has...mosquito tornadoes?? Thinkin' any mammal stuck outside was sucked dry:

PSAs
1. Clearance bin MaxScent??
|
|
That haul was scored by bass-head Vincent W at a Fleet Farm CLEARANCE BIN. I think Fleet Farms are stores so far north they might not understand what MaxScent or bass are, and they think palm trees died out with the dinosaurs??
Anyhow, because Vincent is a sharp bass-head, he wondered if maybe other Fleet Farms were doing that too, ran to another one of 'em and scored a bunch more on clearance! 🤯 Props to you man, whoa.
2. Vexus VX20 on Toho
Forgot to mention: Spent some time in one of these high-end glass rigs on Toho. Don't think I've ever been in a boat that rode so "flat" and steady at full speed, meaning no "turbulence" if you know what I mean. I'm no boat expert but kinda amazing.
Word is a VX can be had for any combo of fiat dollars, gold and silver coins, MaxScent, the no-longer-made Blazin' Buffalo & Ranch Doritos, 223/556 ammo and – depending on the dealer – elk corn dogs...😁
|
|
3. Anyone put part of a Dinger/Senko on the back of a jig?
Looks kinda good but I haven't done it yet – you? How 'bout WACKY on the back??
|
|
That pic kinda bothers me...the tag end...the weedguard...some other stuff.... But hey, it'll catch 'em I'm sure, tho I like Russ Lane's version better:

On BassBlaster.rocks right now...

> What do I consider muddy? Well, if I lose sight of my spinnerbait...after an inch drop, that's muddy.
> The only type of muddy water I won't fish is the kind that just came into the lake. If it is rolling and you can see the mud turning on itself, that's bad. If the water is stable and muddy, the fish will use it.
> In clear water, the part of the water column where fish are feeding is large. If the water is clear to 20', they can be anywhere from a foot to 50' down. But in muddy water, you will find the fish in 5' or less.
> Dirty water moves aggressive fish into a smaller area, and I don't have to figure out where they are. I know they will be in the 1-5' depths.
Good post. Here's Rick waitin' to ambush those muddy-water feesh:

"My competitive nature pushes me to win, and anything short of that is a disappointment to me."
- Guess who? Yep KVD, recently named by by Outdoor Life as one of the 5 guys who "changed the world of hunting and fishing."
Have heard many a time about Kevin literally refusing to lose in everything from cornhole to pool to whatever. Word is if you win, you're dang sure playing again 😂 – for real!

|
Bass-head Jacob F's son on Grand, lovin' the basses! Great job dad! Caught it on a dropshotted MaxScent Flat Worm (gp):
|
|
Maybe we should all start huggin' one bass every time out man...might change the world...
