1. Butcher likes metal bars!

Okie Terry Butcher, who won the PAA derby on Grand Lake, OK this weekend this'n way:

> It was the dock deal that gave Butcher the win. He caught the dock fish on a 1/2-oz Booyah spinnerbait – just a white chartreuse skirt with double willows (silver and gold). He did not use a trailer hook or a trailer bait.

> It had to be docks with metal cross beam support rails underwater in front of them. Most of his fish were right in front of the docks, suspended on those bars. Butcher was parallel-casting to retrieve his bait right alongside the front of the docks.

> “The bars that the fish were suspending on were about 5-6 feet below the surface. It takes a long time to get a 1/2-oz spinnerbait down 6 feet, keeping it right at that depth for a 60-80 foot retrieve or however wide one of the docks are. You have to reel really slow and stay patient – that’s hard to do when you’re also trying to cover a lot of water.”

Butcher had 41.70 lbs over 3 days. Runner-up Jim Dillard (LA) had 39.32 lbs.

2. Duckett now with 4×4 jigs.

Tip of the Day

What do you do between targets?

From FLW pro Adrian Avena:

> In the past were countless times throughout a single day of fishing when I would be casting just to cast while my trolling motor was on high heading to the next objective – whether it be a dock, laydown, point, etc.

> I have found that in the past few years, picking up a fast-moving bait to throw in between those special targets can result in a bonus fish or two.

> For an example, if I am fishing a row of docks and they are 50-plus yards apart, I'll hit the key sections of the dock, then kick my MinnKota trolling motor to 70% and throw a crankbait suitable for that particular water depth, maintaining bottom contact until I reach the next dock.

Brandon Palaniuk. A-A-Ron Martens has also spent a lot of time dropshotting for trout.

Also said in that slideshow:

> To the q: "If you could do one thing over in your career, what would it be?," he said: "I would not cull in Minnesota."

No idea who this gal is, but she seems to like to fish in her skivvies…. Spend some time staring at this shot and you might be surprised to see not one but two basses there – seriously!
