Passive Rod Action: Any Good?

Passive Rod?

You want your bait to jump, pop, jerk, whatever with a spinning rod, you move the rod, right? Right.

Well apparently there’s a gadget that does it for you – sort of: the Line Dancer.

The vid is below. Interesting gadget, but gotta ask: Does anyone really need it?

Passive Rod?

I’d also be afraid my line would get frayed. And no mention about line twist…highly doubt that thing would make it better….

Vid Notes

> Don’t know what’s with the tune. Kept wondering when the snake would come up out of the basket….
> The frog part at 4:29 is pretty cool. The Senko at 4:58 is interesting too.

Indeed inventive! The line movement (oscillating concave arc) reminds me of my rod-held-high-frog-technique but I’ve never tried to duplicate that motion, or considered it possible, under the surface. Being an incurable Gadget Geek, I will have to take the bait (HA!) and try some out. Although, couldn’t you just use a gloved finger on your grip hand to do the same thing? Hooksets might be a little off though.

Interesting, but I don’t think I’ll be buying one.
