Just a heads up to my fellow bass nerds. The day 1 weigh-in for the Bassmaster Central Open at Lake Lewisville is about to get under way. Click here to watch it live.
I usually don’t pay much attention to the Open events, but with the Classic qualification structure B.A.S.S. has put in place this year, these derbies are worth watching. Whoever wins this event [and any other Open this year] gets to punch their ticket to Shreveport in 2012.
Given the location of Lewisville relative to Shreveport [they’re only about 4 hours apart], you can bet some Louisiana sticks are fishing this one hoping to earn an appearance in the big show.

Lewisville is a bipolar place. There are rare events where it really turns out some good sacks, but most the time it just sucks.
I’ve fished it a couple times, but it’s definitely not high on my list of place to go back to.
