Largie needs Scope, Blades of Glory, Bass Shamps??

Welcome to Jay Kumar's BassBlaster, your daily-ish email of the best o' bassin'!

Today's Top 3

1. What's this bass need?

Shad just don't do it for the bref, mang. Need:

Cool pic tweeted by @justinlucasbass. Btw, I like this flavor:

2. Bass Shamps??

Not TX's Bass Champs, but a small FL circuit called Bass "Shamps." Which begs the question, what are shamps? Googled it and found:

Feel like I'm workin' for CVS today….

3. Blades of Glory is/are hot…

…in NC, anyway.

> The hottest item among anglers at Lakes Norman and Wylie is a type of Alabama rig developed by UNC Charlotte student Shane Lehew. The rig is named “Blades Of Glory.”

> “That thing has won several bass tournaments lately,” said avid fisherman Boots Beasley of Mooresville, skipper of the Catawba Queen cruise boat and a frequent weigh-in official at Lake Norman tournaments. “If you like to catch largemouth and spotted bass, you’ve got to have one.”

Here it 'tis, at $25 per, with the popular Yumbrella Flash Mob Jr. below it for comparison (probly not to scale):

From a BassBlaster reader: I like the fact that MegaStrike is a sponsor. I won a tube on the Texas Fishing Forum one time and now I swear by it! It's great stuff.

Tip of the Day

Alton Jones: Using Google to scout.

> "I like to use Google [satellite images] to see how the weed patterns change at various times of the year. You can call up history on satellite views, and get a look at the weed growth from every season of the year, and that tells you where there might be some spots that local anglers might overlook.

> "…where there are so many tournaments all the time, finding a spot that other anglers have not hit recently can give a huge advantage."

If'n yer not using these maps in yer scoutin', yer crazy. Also, BassGold is the ONLY place (I'm aware of) where you can toggle between Google and Bing map views…which are different in important ways….

Quote of the Day

A classic coach killer – shows up spectacularly in practice but often nowhere to be found on game day.

– Smallies, described like in an NFL draft pick. Dang straight! From a blog post by FLW Tour pro Tom Redington.

Shot of the Day

Z whacked this with Keef Richards Combs this weekend, texted me a few deets: "Water temp from 72 to 55 in 3 days. Fish came on a SK 2.5 in yellow perch color – in back of creek, taping [Z's  Bassin' Show of Awesomeness] with Combs. One of the toughest shoots I've been on…."

Here's the bait:
