Lane Cool With Bent Rod Pattern?

"So I saw Kevin's rod was bent and..." (Bassmaster.com photo)

I’m going over the pattern info for the T-Bend Elite Series event, and I run across these quotes on BassFan from 4th-place finisher Chris Lane:

“I threw a Carolina rig the first day, but on day 2 at 10:30 I still hadn’t had a bite. I went out to the main lake and saw Kevin Wirth catch two decent ones on a jerkbait. I’m no idiot, so I started throwing a jerkbait too.

“Then I broke off the only good [bait] I had, so I went over to Kevin and he gave me three of them. That was pretty cool of him.”

That’s pretty dang funny!

I know that’s not the first and won’t be the last time someone fishes the bent rod pattern in a pro tourney, but don’t think I’ve seen someone admit it so openly before.

At least make it sound more cerebral than that, Chris! Then again, sounds like he was being honest, which is cool.

Why

Was going over the tourney because I got the straw for T-Bend data entry for FishingGold.com. We’re about to upload pattern info for a few BASS events (bringing our 50 DANG YEARS of BASS tourneys up to date); all 2011 FLW Tour events so far; and a few miscellaneous other patterns.

Will be another 100 or so patterns, which will get FishingGold.com closer to the 2,000 mark. Sweet!

Isn’t FishingGold.com just a huge compilation of bent rod patterns in a round-about way? Haha

Magical things happen when you accumulate data, man. Magical…
