Today's Top 4

1. Student felony charge for fishing tackle.

Here's the headline:
Felony weapons charge for student who brought fishing supplies to school

More:

> A Cobb County high school senior was charged with the felony of bringing weapons into a school zone after police found fishing knives in a tackle box in his car.

> Cody Chitwood, a 17-year-old student at Lassiter High School and avid fisherman, turned himself in and was released on $1,000 bond.

> Police were performing a random sweep, and drug-sniffing dogs detected black powder in Chitwood’s car. The powder was residue from a firecracker that had been in the car since Fourth of July, but it was enough to a warrant a full search that turned up the fishing-related weaponry. [Weaponry??]

> “It’s pretty ridiculous,” said Chitwood. “I have an attorney and I’m hoping to get the felony dropped so I can still get in the Air Force.”

> If the district attorney decides to prosecute, Chitwood could face two to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

WTHeck is going on in GA?? This photo taken at the scene, might 'splain sumpin:

2. My friends laugh at me because when I skip the bait under there I still lift my left leg….

Elite pro Chris Zaldain, talkin' 'bout  markin' his territory acting like he's doing some sorta hockey shot when fishin'.

Surprised to learn Chris played hockey cuz…no funny accent.

3. Would you wear the Bass-Tard helmet?

That time of year. ICON Motosports just came out with the ICON Airmadad Bass-Tard helmet – be lookin' purdy sweet, don't it?

Video they did for it puts the goober stamp on bassin' but it's pretty durn good!

4. Once you've experienced how silky soft Icebreaker merino underwear feels against your skin, you’ll never want to wear anything else.

Got your attention now, didn't I hahaha! Quote and pic from the Icebreaker Facebook page.

What's Icebreaker? What YOU should be wearin' this fall and winter…seriously (not talkin' 'bout the undies).

WAY better than Under Armour-type stuff. Don't hafta take my word for it. Here's Trait Crist:

Tip of the Day

Larry Nixon color tips.

Good piece on Bassin'Fan:

> Green-pumpkin…"works well on almost every lake I've fished in the United States. It doesn't work as well, though, when the water turns brown or muddy. That's when I go to black."

> "Fall is when the fish tend to be on shad more than any other time, and it's when a chartreuse, white or fire tail is most effective. Those are hard to find in stores these days, but I've still get 'em and if I'm fishing around a lot of boats, I'll pull them out and usually catch more fish than the other guys do."

> "If I'm going to Florida, I'll go out to my shed and dig out all my red shad for fishing that brackish water. I hardly fish those anywhere else, but when you get on that black water anywhere around the coastal area, that color's got a flash to it like no other."

> "Guntersville, Toledo Bend and Rayburn all have a water color that's very similar – not clear, but not muddy. When I go to those places I'm thinking junebug, candy bug or a shiny grape color, along with green-pumpkin. Light purple is good in the summer when those lakes get clearer."

> "If I'm on Murray or one of the highland lakes in Arkansas in the summer, I like watermelon red or strawberry." [Do bass bait makers like fruit or what?]

> "When fish are looking up, I think a light pink looks like a shad body on a sunny day. They like a translucent color that they can partially see through…. If you're throwing a dark purple or a junebug under those conditions, a lot of times you can't hardly get a bite."
