Do You Fish-Tank Your Baits? KVD Does

Need a tank this big to see what's going on?

Happened upon this quote from the Strike King site, KVD talking about the difference between SK’s Ocho and Zero baits:

Because the Perfect Plastic Ocho is loaded with salt, as it falls, those eight different sides cause the bait to shimmy and wiggle. If you take the 3X Zero and rig it and the Perfect Plastic Ocho, put them both in a fish tank and watch them fall, you quickly and easily can see the difference in the way the two lures move as they descend down into the water and you need both movements when you’re fishing.

I’m not surprised KVD does this. But after reading that, I’m a bit surprised I don’t.

I know what my baits look like in the water from my perspective, but now I’m thinking [head slap] that’s not worth much. That’s not a bass-eye view, and let’s face it: When we’re fishing these things, we’re visualizing what they’re doing under the water, right? (I’m sure KVD is….)

But since I’m not fish-tank-testing my baits, I think I’m visualizing what I think the bait looks like rather than what it really is looking like.

Might be splitting hairs, but I don’t think so.

So do you fish-tank your baits? All of them? Spill the deets below.

(One day I’m going to nail all this down, and then look out, man! (Lol.) I’ll finally take some of Zona’s money….)

No I don’t do that or at least haven’t in many years. Used to have a cabin on a lake with outstanding water clarity and I studied my baits there often because it was easy to do.
