Today's Top 5

1. Here's Christie's bait.

From the man himself, the bait Jason Christie used to win the Dardanelle Elite, a 1/2-oz  Booyah Boo Jig (black/blue) with a 2.75" Yum F2 Craw Chunk trailer (virgo blue):

From Bassin'Fan:

> "The way I was swimming the jig it was almost like a spinnerbait bite."

> He downsized the jig's profile by removing about a third of the 50 skirt strands. "Leaving all the strands in would cause the bait to lift and it would swim too slow."

2. Pack back with M-Pack Lures.

TX's Mark Pack, former Elite-level pro and founder of Lake Fork Tackle, is back with:

New, patented deal is the "structure guard." More on that in future Blasters. For now, here's one of his new, just on the market, baits in a color he says is killer: pb n strawberry:

3. More giant smallie shots.

Here's a different one of the 8+:

And of the supposed 9:

On that brass scale, BB reader Steve said:

> I did scale calibration for Western Bass Club for at least a year, and the Chatillion (that ugly old brass spring scale in the 9 lb Smallie video) is 1) consistent and 2) always works. The digital scales were NOT any more accurate. After my last digital crapped out, I bought a Chatillion…they'll last a lifetime or two.

4. 18 lbs out of the 50 cut.

7. Elite-requested 'Trap floaters.

> …special run of the SuperNatural patterns in the Floater model. This stemmed from some conversations with Elite pros Cliff Crochet and Boyd Duckett about how effective our Floater Rat-L-Trap is but how few colors we make it in.

> This model is perfect for fishing over shallow wing-dam cuts on rivers, grass just under the surface, and all shallow waters.

Tip of the Day

Billy McDonald: Swimmin' worms.

> “It's a perfect complement to swimming a jig or a swimbait; which can get very little response in heavy pressure situations.”

> “I rig a Strike King Rage Tail Cut R worm with the tail pointed down…most of the time I am swimming it through grass beds or over grass that hasn’t yet topped out, I go with a screwlock swimbait hook."

> "If the grass is really sparse or I’m using it to swim across the top of grass and drop into holes, I use the Texas rig with a Tour Grade Tungsten weight."

> “You really want to tick the grass in most instances." He positions his rod at a 10 o’clock position and reels the bait at a medium-slow retrieve, then speeds it up until he finds the cadence that bass stop responding.

> “You will most likely see the strike or just feel a small tick,” he said. “When that happens, keep reeling until the rod loads up and just bow up on it."

Quote of the Day

Major League Fishing, a made-for-television circuit, put out press releases on the [TTBC] tournament, trying to take credit for its format…however the TTBC format is 4 years older than MLF.

Newsman Steve Knight callin' it like he sees it. Al Gore also claims he invented the format….

Here's a REAL pic of Al Gore and Bill Clinton back in the day. If prez fashion gets any worse than this I don't wanna know about it.
