Today’s Top 3

1. Dude brags about keeping too many…

…ends up paying for it. Bragging online about keeping too many and posting pics of it – doh!

This is just too much. First from the original thread, he says he was fishing the Texas Law Enforcement Tourney – seriously?! Then:

> Under a screen name, 25-year-old Dustin Heathman described the best fishing trip of his life. On June 21, Dustin wrote he “HAD A BLAST” by himself on Lake Austin and “put around 40 fish in the boat with 22 keepers.”

> He attached five pictures to prove it of 15 largemouth bass laid out on the back of his boat. That’s three times the legal limit.

> Dustin tried to defend himself by saying he deserved to keep that many because he usually throws fish back. He also said he had family in town to feed who wanted a fish fry. Neither excuse went over well.

> Travis County Game Warden Christy Vales caught wind of the online confession after more than one person contacted the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and turned him in. “I think the thing that upset us the most is just the total disregard for the legalities of fishing and the fish that he caught over his limit,” said Vales.

> She is still working on the case, but says Dustin will have to pay for the extra fish he took home. The fine has yet to be determined, but can range anywhere from $25 to $500 per fish.

2. Siemantel in Ford commercial!

What with the Pony Express on strike and all, takes a while for new to filter back east. Finally heard about this recent Ford commercial starring noted Cali bass stick – and giganto bass expert – Bill Siemantel. Representin’ the bassin’. Nice!

3. Kevin Short at…Oneida?

Not sure where it was, but wherever it is could it really be that deep or is it just transducer error?

> Chad Morgenthaler will host a benefit tournament at Rend Lake, IL. This year’s event, will be held on Oct. 6. “We had a hundred teams last year and we’ve moved the date back a little bit so it doesn’t conflict with other schedules, so we expect even more participation this year,” Chad said.

> The tourney will benefit the Illinois Conservation Foundation, which supports youth hunting and fishing, as well as Five Star Industries, which provides a variety of services to help those with developmental disabilities improve their quality of life.

> Anglers who wish to compete can download an entry form at www.chadmorgenthaler.com, under the “Check it Out” tab. Alternatively, they can pay online by going to www.ilcf.org and following the “Events” link.

Quote of the Day

I’m trying to keep my mind off of Lake Oneida so I went out and bought a new lawn mower today. Didn’t work, thought about the tournament the entire time I was mowing.

– Another good one from Alton Jones’ Facebook page.

Check out this hook! Did a bass do it or…
